Dear Friend,

Greetings in Christ!  The national animal for Kenya is the East African lion.  It is a beautiful and powerful wild animal.  Jesus is symbolized as the Lion of Judah, in the Bible.  He as well, is majestic and powerful.  “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered…”  (Rev. 5:5) As you read this, I am on the ground in Kenya (April 21-May 3) seeing God do amazing things.  Pray with me that the Lion of Judah roars with His Holy Might and that souls would respond to His command to repent and be saved.  (Image from Safari Avventura.)

Pictured are two posters, that communicate what I am doing during my time there.  One is promoting the evangelism training.  I am teaching two lessons, for about four hours a day, Monday-Thursday.  They are adult students, which are very experienced in ministry.  We are expecting around 50 in attendance.  I am excited with my theme, “Essentials of the Gospel Message According to the Apostles.”  The syllabus I provided the students says the following…

“This class will methodically walk through the textual sermons of the Apostles in the book of Acts.  We will study the content of their evangelistic messages to understand the biblical essentials for gospel preaching.  The aim of our time together is to equip you with the knowledge of what the

Bible teaches should be preached in a gospel message, so you can go out and proclaim that message with confidence, authority and in the power of the Holy Spirit.  The class will challenge what you may have learned previously about the content of the gospel.  It will cause you to think, perhaps re-evaluate and maybe even completely change how you preach the good news of Christ.”

The second poster features the outreaches that are planned.  I am just one member of a team from the Manna Bible Institute and the PEFA Manna Cathedral.  The outreaches will all be taking place in the area around MBI.  It will be a busy daily schedule.  After our time in the classroom, we will go out to minister to lost souls.  Each night (Mon-Sat) and Sunday afternoon, there will be an outdoor festival meeting I will be preaching at.  And on Saturday, April 29, there will be outreaches for couples, youth and children I will be speaking at.  Pray the seeds of the gospel take deep root in the hearts of many and bring a bountiful harvest.

GOING TO ISRAEL

I am also announcing plans for our next international trip.  In November 2024 I will be traveling to Israel…and you can come with me!

Great Awakenings is partnering with Heartland to Holy Land Tours for this trip.  The tour is being organized by Dwight and Anita Widaman.  They are also the publishers of the Metro Voice, which has been running my newspaper columns for many years.  Between the two of them they have travelled to Israel almost 20 times, leading or being part of tours.  They have a passion for the people and land of God’s chosen people.  We will be visiting both Old and New Testament sites, see breath-taking scenery, experience local cuisine, and gain from God’s Word, as it is taught on actual biblical sites.  And I will be privileged to teach God’s Word to you, helping it come alive site after site.  Mark 6:1 says, “He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.”  Imagine being able to walk the streets of Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown.  You will never read about Nazareth the same again.

I am so excited they asked us to join with them.  It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  Are you interested?  Call or email me, to let me know if you want to know more.  Eventually, we will be hosting an informational meeting.  We have 40 spots to be filled and would love to fill them all up with friends and supporters of Great Awakenings like you.

UNITED METHODIST DISAFILLIATION

Earlier this year when I preached at Green United Methodist Church in the small town of Green, Kansas, I learned they were on the path to disaffiliate with the United Methodist Church.  Following the service, the church held a meeting a short time later with their district superintendent present.  The church voted 100% to disaffiliate.   This is just one of thousands of Methodist churches that are disaffiliating; both large and small.  It is very sad and is nothing to celebrate.  It is all because the leadership of the denomination refuses to follow the clear teachings of God’s Word.

COMPLETED ONE YEAR OF CHANGES TO THE COLUMN

Last month, we celebrated one-year, following several changes made to my syndicated column.  In March 2022, we unveiled a new name, logo, writing style, blog and frequency, going from monthly to weekly.  The majority of newspapers are running my columns more often, many on a weekly basis and we have added additional papers spreading the column from 10 to 15 states.  Here are a few comments from editors.  The Junction City Daily Union said, “We appreciate having this for our readers on our church page.”  The Valliant Leader commented, “They are well written, timely and on-topic…”  The Pampa News, Los Fresnos and La Feria News shared, “We love the additions of Mr. Decker’s column to our publications.”

Thank you so much for reading.  I hope you have been encouraged at what God is doing.

Servant of Jesus.  Servant of Yours,

Ways You Can Pray:

  • Kenya: Pray for me as I teach these eight lessons. May God use them to equip the students to be more effective gospel preachers and teachers.
  • Kenya: Pray for me as I preach the gospel during each of the seven outdoor festival meetings. May God use them to plant many seeds and bring a great harvest for His glory.
  • Kenya: Pray for the Manna Bible Institute and School of Missions as this short mission is part of their larger work. Pray for their financial provision and great fruit through their labors in East Africa.
